Productivity and Resource Use Efficiency in Lentil Production in Selected Areas of Bangladesh

Optimum use of resources in crop production is crucial for reducing costs and getting higher profits. Lentil farmers are traditionally using different inputs without considering their efficient levels. Hence, the present study estimated productivities various lentil varieties measured resource efficiency production. The analyzed 360 household data collected from 240 improved variety users 120 local cultivar spread six growing districts namely Faridpur, Magura, Kushtia, Jhenaidah, Manikgonj, Sirajganj. Along with descriptive statistics, used Cobb- Douglas models analyzing data. average productivity (1.63 t/ha) was much than cultivars (1.08 t/ha). highest found mediumintensive areas due to better (BARI 8) a level inputs. Human labour, seed, TSP, MoP, other fertilizers, pesticides, irrigation, had positive significant effect on Farmers were not inputs, they excessive amount labour but less amounts seed fertilizers. faced lack suitable land, biotic abiotic stresses, seeds. should be supplied technology increase farm profits through production.
